UST-AMV Simbahayan on Community Development
For eight years of helping partner communities, the college still continues to provide enrichment activities that promote positive community relationships as well as interpersonal skills which center on compassion and service. Thus, UST-AMV Simbahayan deals with the growth and sustenance, conflict resolution, rehabilitation and transformation of marginalized communities through people’s participation and collective action to ensure the holistic and corporate well-being of the people.
The UST-AMV Simbahayan has four (4) partner communities, namely:
- Barangay Santissima Trinidad, Malolos, Bulacan
- Barangay Pinagbarilan, Baliwag, Bulacan
- Barangay Ariendo, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija
- Barangay San Juan, Laur, Nueva Ecija
The college aims to recognize and build up people’s potentials and capabilities, enabling them to define their direction and participate in the process of change through collective action to ensure their well-being or welfare.
It also aims to transform the marginalized communities so that they may collectively act on their situations and on the external forces that undermine and perpetuate the oppressive conditions.
Conducting an outreach program is a commitment to the creation of a society that provides equal access to social, economic, and political opportunities through popular participation.
There are three fields of involvement in Community Development: Community Organizing, Community Resources Management, and Community Education.
As an advocacy the College added new partner communities which are Brgy. Santissima, Trinidad in Malolos, Brgy. San Juan Laur, Nueva Ecija and Brgy. Pinagbarilan in Baliwag, Bulacan, which is the latest edition in 2010 among the partner communities being served by the College. This is because of the high level of demand of nine student organizations of the AMVCOA for community outreach activities in order for them to be officially recognized. In addition, students from these organizations would like to be aware of and exposed the various social and environmental issues that plague the country. The team started to create projects in the area under the HELPS Program: H- Health, E-Education, E-Environment, L-Livelihood, P-Physical, S-Spiritual.
